Radiation Protection

The U.S. Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI) in Bethesda, Maryland, has extensively researched radiation protection. Among natural agents, Vitamin E Tocotrienols, especially Delta- and Gamma-Tocotrienols, proved highly effective. They act as potent antioxidants and stimulate bone marrow's hematopoietic tissues, aiding in the restoration of a damaged blood supply caused by radiation. In animal studies, Tocotrienols nearly normalized White Blood Cells, Neutrophils, and Platelets following Ionizing Radiation, with Delta-Tocotrienol notably regenerating lymphocytes. Prophylactic Delta-Tocotrienol treatment, administered 24 hours before radiation exposure, showed better results than post-radiation treatment. This suggests potential use as a preoperative radioprotector for radiation workers in various industries, hospitals, astronauts, pilots, crew members, and cancer therapy patients. Tocotrienols safeguard sensitive cells from Ionizing Radiation, including Alpha, Beta, Gamma, X-ray, Ultraviolet, and Neutrons, which produce harmful Free Radicals, inflammation, and cellular damage. AFRRI has published numerous studies confirming Tocotrienols' protective effects. Considering Tocotrienol supplementation before potential radiation exposure is advisable during air travel, medical imaging, high-altitude activities, or work near radiation-producing equipment.
